Charles Leclerc: “It’s not a pleasant feeling” after the Singapore Grand Prix

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc expressed his disappointment after the Singapore Grand Prix, calling the team’s current situation “not a pleasant feeling.” Leclerc has had to reassess expectations about the performance of the Ferrari car, observing how his rivals are fighting for victories. While Ferrari has yet to achieve any victories in 2026, teams like McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes have secured wins. Mercedes earned its second victory of the year in Singapore with George Russell, while Leclerc and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, struggled to secure sixth and eighth place respectively, both with brake issues.

From lap eight, basically, it was all about managing those brakes. It made our race very, very complicated.

Leclerc offered a frank assessment of Ferrari’s position in the competition.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the race car to fight with those in front.

Leclerc continued to explain that McLaren has always had the same advantage over them compared to the beginning of the year. Red Bull advanced from Monza and is at the same level as McLaren. Mercedes is now at the same level as McLaren and Red Bull, and then there is Ferrari. Leclerc admitted that it is not easy, as they want to fight for better positions, but at this moment they feel that they are “passengers” in the car and cannot extract much more than what is there to save from what remains of the season. The driver also commented on the difficulty of managing the feeling of disappointment in a season like 2025. He acknowledged that it takes a lot of energy, but that this does not demotivate him, but rather motivates him even more to try to change the situation. Leclerc concluded that it is very hard, especially after a race like the one in Singapore, where they didn’t even fight for a podium and had to manage many problems, which “is not a pleasant feeling”.
