National League Championship Series Roster Moves
MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee right-handed pitcher Nick Mears was left off the Brewers’ roster for their National League Championship Series matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers, after making 63 relief appearances during the regular season.
Instead, Milwaukee included right-handed pitcher Tobias Myers, who was not on the Brewers’ roster for their National League Division Series with the Chicago Cubs. Game 1 of the National League Championship Series is Monday in Milwaukee.
The Dodgers also altered their bullpen for this series. They added one more pitcher by including right-handed pitcher Ben Casparius and leaving out Dalton Rushing, who had been one of the three catchers on their National League Division Series roster. Rushing struck out in his only at-bat in the National League Division Series.
The Dodgers’ bullpen for the National League Championship Series will also include left-handed pitcher Justin Wrobleski, who was added to the National League Division Series roster after Tanner Scott underwent surgical removal of an abscess due to a lower body infection before the final game of the National League Division Series matchup with Philadelphia.
Because Scott was removed from the National League Division Series roster during the series, he became ineligible for the National League Championship Series.
Mears went 5-3 with a 3.49 ERA for the Brewers during the regular season. He pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings in the National League Division Series.
Myers went 1-2 with a 3.55 ERA for Milwaukee in 22 appearances, including six starts. This followed a rookie season in 2024 in which he went 9-6 with a 3.00 ERA, starting 25 of his 27 appearances. Myers also allowed just two hits in five scoreless innings while starting Game 3 of the Brewers’ loss in the National League Wild Card Series to the New York Mets last season.
The Brewers’ roster for the National League Championship Series also does not include two-time All-Star pitcher Brandon Woodruff, as he continues to recover from a right lat strain.
Casparius went 7-5 with a 4.64 ERA in 46 appearances this season. He had a 1.42 ERA in 6 1/3 postseason innings last year, including 4 1/3 scoreless innings in the National League Championship Series, to help the Dodgers on their way to the World Series title.
