Garry Ringrose misses third test against Australia due to concussion protocol

The British and Irish Lions center, Garry Ringrose, has been ruled out of the third and final test against Australia this weekend, as he is following the 12-day concussion protocols. Ringrose was initially selected to play in the second test last week in Melbourne, which the Lions won to secure the series, but he withdrew after experiencing concussion symptoms during training. The match on Saturday at Stadium Australia was probably his last real chance to play a test for the Lions, and assistant coach Andrew Goodman said the 30-year-old player was devastated.
Garry Ringrose is still in the 12-day concussion protocol, meaning he will miss this weekend’s third test.“Garry was playing incredible rugby during this tour, and it has been a dream for him for so long to represent the Lions, and he has managed to do it,” the New Zealander told reporters in Sydney. “But he wanted to be a Test match Lion, so it’s been devastating for him. Everyone knows Garry is a great lad and a great team man.
  • The players were disappointed in him.
  • He himself is disappointed, but he is supporting everyone and making sure to help them prepare as much as he can.
  • He is a true leader for us, especially in the attacking line.
Goodman said the other players who were unavailable for selection for the second test due to injury – winger Mack Hansen (foot), second row Joe McCarthy (foot) and center Sione Tuipulotu (hamstring) – all participated in training on Tuesday.
