Red Bull Expands its Sporting Domain: Acquires the Newcastle Red Bulls

The energy drink giant, Red Bull, continues to expand its presence in the world of sports. Recently, the company has acquired full ownership of the first division rugby team, now known as the Newcastle Red Bulls. The club’s name change will take effect before the start of the new season next month. The initiative seeks to implement the “innovative approach” that Red Bull has applied in other sports disciplines globally. Red Bull already has stakes in several soccer teams, including RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg, in addition to having a presence in Formula 1. It should be noted that Jürgen Klopp, former Liverpool coach, recently took over as Red Bull’s global head of football. Newcastle club has achieved five major titles in its history, including the league championship in 1998. The last trophy won by Newcastle was the national cup in 2004.

Together, we aspire to elevate rugby to new heights and offer unforgettable moments to our fans,” declared Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Red Bull in projects and corporate investments.
