Owen Farrell Returns to Saracens with a Five-Year Contract
The talented rugby player, Owen Farrell, will return to Saracens this summer, according to sources close to the team. The agreement, which will extend for five years, marks the player’s return to his home club. Farrell, 33, left Saracens at the end of the 2023-24 season to join Racing 92 on a two-year contract. However, after only one season in the Top 14, he has decided to return to Saracens. Sources indicate that Farrell has signed a five-year contract with Saracens, which will include a player-coach role. To finalize this agreement, Saracens has had to compensate Racing 92.This move allows Farrell to be eligible again to play for England, if he decides to become available for selection again. Farrell is the all-time leading points scorer for the England men’s team, but chose to step away from international duty after the 2023 World Cup to prioritize his and his family’s well-being.
The return to the Premiership comes after a complicated year in France. Racing 92 did not perform well in the Top 14 and Farrell also suffered injuries during the season, including a groin injury. With Alex Lozowski’s injury, Saracens has decided to reinforce its resources in the fly-half and center position with Farrell’s return. Farrell’s career at Saracens was extremely successful. He debuted with the team at 17 years old and contributed to the conquest of six Premiership titles and three European Cups.
