The British & Irish Lions Kick Off Their 2025 Tour with Match in Perth

The 2025 British and Irish Lions tour has started strongly, with Andy Farrell’s team facing the Western Force in Perth. This is the first of five matches on the tour before the first Test against the Wallabies in Brisbane on July 19. Farrell made 13 changes to the XV that started in the defeat against Argentina in Dublin last week, with Tadhg Beirne and Sione Tuipulotu being the only ones repeating in the starting team. Scottish fly-half Finn Russell, who is in a privileged position to start the Tests, has his first opportunity, while the 20-year-old English youngster Henry Pollock starts at number 8. Irishman Dan Sheehan has the honor of captaining the team. There’s a lot at stake here: After last Friday’s defeat, the Lions are under pressure to break their losing streak and find some winning momentum. The Lions are expected to do just that. This match is destined to be one of the easiest on the Lions’ schedule in Australia, with more challenging tasks against the Queensland Reds, ACT Brumbies and AUNZ Invitational Team to come. Will the Lions be able to get their first victory of the summer?
