Tkachuk, Senators captain, under evaluation after loss to Predators

OTTAWA, Ontario – The Ottawa Senators suffered a 4-1 defeat to the Nashville Predators on Monday, and played the final nine minutes of the third period without their captain, Brady Tkachuk. Tkachuk received a cross-check from Predators defenseman Roman Josi early in the first period, which caused him to hit the boards awkwardly. He grabbed his right forearm as he got to his feet, although he continued to play, he was not always seen comfortable on the ice.

Obviously, he didn’t finish the game in the final stretch, he tried. I don’t really have any news. They are evaluating him at the moment.

Travis Green, Senators coach
Green didn’t want to characterize the decision to keep Tkachuk off the ice as a precautionary measure, but he did confirm that it was a consequence of the collision in the first period. The Senators are already dealing with the absence of forward Drake Batherson, so losing Tkachuk, even for a short period, would represent a significant challenge.
