Brady Tkachuk, Senators captain, out with injury

Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk will be out of action for at least a month due to an injury to his right hand, according to coach Travis Green on Tuesday. Tkachuk suffered the injury on Monday, the result of a hit by Roman Josi, defenseman for the Nashville Predators, at the beginning of the first period. The 26-year-old player, of American nationality, remained in the game before being absent in the last half of the third period.

He is going to lose a significant amount of time. We will know more in the next 24 hours. We don’t know exactly, but it’s four weeks or more. We don’t know exactly.

Green told reporters on Tuesday that surgery is a possibility for Tkachuk, but that, at a minimum, he will miss four weeks. In the current season, Tkachuk has recorded three assists in three games for Ottawa, the team that selected him in the fourth position of the 2018 draft. Brady’s brother, Matthew, is also out with an injury. The latter, a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Florida Panthers, is expected to be out of action until December. Both Tkachuks were among the first six players named by the United States to its initial roster for the 2026 Olympics in June.
