Player Matt Rempe has signed a two-year contract with the New York Rangers, according to a source close to the deal. The contract is valued at $1.95 million.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that Rempe will have a $975,000 impact on the salary cap over the next two NHL seasons.

Rempe, 22, has played in 70 regular season and playoff games with the Rangers in the last two years. He has earned the affection of the fans and the respect of his teammates for his willingness to fight and his ability to impact opponents.

This signing is the most recent move by general manager Chris Drury and the Rangers, following the recent transfer of Chris Kreider to Anaheim.

The New York team seeks to return to the playoffs after missing last season, following their participation in the Eastern Conference final in 2024.

Rempe offers new coach Mike Sullivan a valuable option up front, and the organization believes he is working hard to develop and has the potential to improve. Rempe, a sixth-round pick in 2020, has recorded five goals and six assists in the NHL.
