The Anaheim Ducks have confirmed the hiring of Joel Quenneville as their new head coach.
The official announcement and press conference are expected to take place on Thursday.
This appointment represents Quenneville’s return to the NHL, following his resignation as coach of the Florida Panthers in October 2021.
Quenneville resigned following an independent investigation into his handling, along with other executives of the Chicago Blackhawks, of a sexual assault complaint in 2010.
In July, Quenneville was reinstated and allowed to seek a position in the NHL.
At 66 years old, Quenneville holds the second-most wins as a coach in NHL history, with a record of 969-572-150 and 77 ties in 25 years with the Blackhawks, Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, and St. Louis Blues. He led the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup championships, including the 2009-10 season, when a minor league player reported to the franchise allegations of sexual assault against a former video coach.
