Forward Jonah Gadjovich and the Florida Panthers have agreed to a two-year, $1.8 million contract extension, which will keep him with the team through the 2027-28 season. The team announced this on Sunday. Gadjovich has proven his worth with six goals and three assists in 84 games over three seasons with the Panthers. In addition, he scored two goals, one of them crucial against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Game 7 victory of last season’s Stanley Cup playoffs, and one assist.

Jonah has become a key piece in our locker room and a strong contributor to our group on the ice. He possesses a bold attitude and unwavering competitiveness, and we are excited for him to continue with us in South Florida.

The extension announcement coincided with Gadjovich’s 27th birthday. In the first three games of this season, Gadjovich has recorded an assist and leads the team with 11 hits. Throughout his career, Gadjovich has accumulated 19 points in 163 games, playing for Florida, San Jose, and Vancouver. He was selected in the second round of the 2017 NHL draft by Vancouver, at number 55 overall. During his time with the Panthers, Gadjovich averages 19.7 hits per 60 minutes, leading the team in this statistic. Gadjovich, who could have become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, is the eleventh forward under contract for next season with the Panthers, joining Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Reinhart, Sam Bennett, Carter Verhaeghe, Brad Marchand, Anton Lundell, Evan Rodrigues, Eetu Luostarinen, and Jesper Boqvist. A twelfth forward, Mackie Samoskevich, who could become a restricted free agent, may also receive a new contract later this season.
