Alex Ovechkin Partners with Russian Company for Audiovisual Production

The Washington Capitals star, Alex Ovechkin, has sealed an alliance with a Russian technology company to develop a film, series, or documentary about his career in the NHL. The agreement was announced this Tuesday by Yandex and its streaming platform, Kinopoisk. Ovechkin, who recently surpassed Wayne Gretzky’s goal record, has accumulated 897 goals at the start of the last season of his contract with the Capitals. The player, who will turn 40 next month, has granted the rights to adapt his career to Plus Studio, Yandex’s production company, along with his representatives. The forward, originally from Moscow, began his professional career in the Russian league, currently known as the KHL. As part of the agreement, he is expected to participate in commercials and act as an ambassador for Yandex. Ovechkin has developed his entire career in the NHL with Washington, since being selected by the Capitals with the first pick in 2004, debuting in 2005. He has been the emblematic figure of the franchise, serving as captain since January 2010. He was named MVP of the playoffs in 2018, leading the Capitals to their first Stanley Cup championship.
