Ryker Evans, Kraken Defenseman, Out with Injury
Kraken defenseman Ryker Evans will be out of action for six to eight weeks due to an upper-body injury, the team announced Wednesday. Evans, 23, is expected to miss the first few weeks of the season, including Seattle’s opening game on October 9 against the Anaheim Ducks. In August, the left-back defender signed a two-year contract extension with an annual salary of $2.05 million, extending to the 2026-27 season. In his first full season with the Kraken, Evans accumulated 25 points, with five goals and 20 assists in 73 games. Selected in the second round of the 2021 draft, Evans made his NHL debut on December 7, 2023.The defenseman, who is 6 feet and 195 pounds, has 34 points in 109 NHL games. He made his international debut with Team Canada at this year’s world hockey championship, where he recorded two assists in eight games.Ryker took a positive step in his first full season in the NHL. Since turning pro, he has shown year-over-year improvement, and we are confident that he will take his game to another level next season. We are happy to have him under contract.
