Adrian Kempe Secures His Future with the Los Angeles Kings

The Los Angeles Kings have finalized the signing of a new contract with winger Adrian Kempe, securing his stay with the team for eight more seasons. The agreement is worth $10.625 million annually, as announced by the franchise last Monday. Kempe’s renewal was a priority for the Kings, especially in anticipation of the possible retirement of captain Anze Kopitar at the end of the season. Negotiations extended for several months, and sources indicate that Kempe accepted a slightly lower salary, demonstrating his desire to continue in Los Angeles and his confidence in the team’s chances of competing for the Stanley Cup. Kempe’s contract extends through the 2033-34 season. The 29-year-old Swedish player has developed his entire career, of ten years, with the Kings, since he was selected in the first round of the draft in 2014. Kempe, who has led the Kings in scoring in the last two seasons, has six goals and 19 points in the 19 games played this season.
