Adrian Kempe Secures His Future with the Los Angeles Kings
The Los Angeles Kings have finalized the renewal of their forward Adrian Kempe with an eight-year contract, valued at $10.625 million annually, as announced by the team this Monday.
The Kings’ management prioritized the extension of Kempe’s contract, especially in anticipation of the possible retirement of their captain, Anze Kopitar, at the end of the season. Negotiations extended for several months, and sources indicate that Kempe accepted a slightly lower salary, demonstrating his desire to remain in Los Angeles, where he hopes to have chances to win the Stanley Cup.
The contractual agreement extends until the 2033-34 season. Kempe, 29 years old and originally from Sweden, has developed his entire professional career of a decade with the Kings, since he was selected in the first round of the 2014 draft.
Kempe, who has been the Kings’ top scorer for the last two seasons, has six goals and 19 points in the 19 games played this season.
He was considered possibly the most prominent free agent for the summer of 2026. In recent months, figures like Connor McDavid, Jack Eichel, Kirill Kaprizov, and Martin Necas have renewed their contracts with their respective teams.
