Adrian Kempe Secures His Future with the Los Angeles Kings
The Los Angeles Kings and winger Adrian Kempe have agreed to a new eight-year contract, worth $10.625 million annually.
The Kings’ management considered it a priority to renew Kempe’s contract, especially given the imminent retirement of captain Anze Kopitar at the end of the season. Negotiations lasted for several months, and Kempe, according to sources, accepted a slight salary reduction, showing his desire to remain in Los Angeles, where he hopes to win the Stanley Cup.
The contract extends through the 2033-34 season. Kempe, 29 years old and from Sweden, has played his entire 10-year career with the Kings, after being selected in the first round of the 2014 draft.
Kempe, the Kings’ top scorer in the last two seasons, has six goals and 19 points in the 19 games played this season.
