Kyle Connor Signs Million-Dollar Extension with the Winnipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets have secured the continuity of their offensive star, Kyle Connor, with an eight-year, $96 million contract, just before the start of the regular season.
This agreement represents the most lucrative contract in the history of the Jets franchise, awarded to one of their most consistent players. Connor, selected at number 17 in the 2015 draft, has proven his worth by scoring 30 or more goals in seven of his eight full seasons in the NHL, surpassing the 40-goal mark in two of the last four campaigns.
In the 2024-25 season, Connor achieved a personal best with 56 assists and 97 points in 82 games, solidifying himself among the top 20 NHL scorers in goals (153) and points (331) since 2021.
Last season, Winnipeg led the league with 116 points, although their performance in the playoffs was limited to the second round, where they were defeated by Dallas. Connor’s renewal was crucial for the Jets to maintain their position as contenders in the Western Conference. The team’s core also includes goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, winner of the Hart and Vezina Trophies, along with center Mark Scheifele and defenseman Josh Morrissey.
Connor, 28, joins Scheifele, Gabriel Vilardi, and Neal Pionk as Jets players secured until 2030.
This could be a standout year for Connor. He represented the United States at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February and participated in the summer Olympic orientation camp, preparing for the return of NHL players to the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games.
Winnipeg will play its first game of the season on Thursday at home against the Stars.
