The restricted free agent defenseman, Dylan Samberg, has reached an agreement with the Winnipeg Jets, thus avoiding a salary arbitration hearing. The agreement was finalized on Wednesday with the signing of a three-year contract extension.Although the financial details were not disclosed by the team, various sources indicate that the contract is worth $17.25 million, which translates to an annual average of $5.75 million.
Samberg, 26, had a standout previous season, setting personal records in goals (six), points (20), and plus/minus (+34) in 60 games. In addition, he added three assists in 13 playoff games.
Since being selected by Winnipeg in the second round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Samberg has accumulated a total of 51 career points, with nine goals and 42 assists in 216 games.
