Jonathan Drouin Suspended for One Game

New York Islanders winger Jonathan Drouin has been suspended for one game due to an action in the game against Pittsburgh. The NHL’s Player Safety Department announced the suspension on Friday, after reviewing the play in a disciplinary hearing. Drouin, 30, received a major penalty of five minutes and was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct after hitting Pittsburgh’s Connor Dewar in the head at the end of Thursday night’s game. This is the first suspension in Drouin’s career in the league. He will miss the Islanders’ home opener on Saturday night against Washington. In addition, he will lose $20,833 of his salary, money that will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
