Golden Knights Secure Alexander Holtz with Two-Year Contract
Las Vegas, just one day before the start of the regular season, the Vegas Golden Knights announced the signing of veteran forward Alexander Holtz, with a two-year contract worth $1.675 million. Holtz, who arrived to the Golden Knights in a trade from the New Jersey Devils in the previous offseason, had been under a professional tryout agreement with the team this fall, following a first season with ups and downs. The 23-year-old player participated in 53 games last season with the Golden Knights, accumulating four goals and eight assists. The former first-round pick split his time between Vegas and its AHL affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights. It remains to be seen where Holtz will play this season, but he could be one of Bruce Cassidy’s 12 active forwards, a group that has impressed the coach. In his career, Holtz has scored 23 goals and 46 points. The Golden Knights begin their home season on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Kings. This could be the best group in terms of players one through twelve that he could coach, due to the depth and how it’s lining up for the Vegas Golden Knights,” Cassidy commented. “Other teams have their own strategies and it’s not a lack of respect… Now we have to translate it from paper to the ice and have it look the way it’s supposed to.
