The Philadelphia Flyers have signed center Christian Dvorak to a one-year, $5.4 million contract.

Dvorak, 29 years old, arrives after four seasons with the Montreal Canadiens.

He was selected 58th overall in 2014 by the Arizona Coyotes, where he played for the first five seasons of his career.

In the past season, Dvorak recorded 12 goals and 21 assists in 82 games. His base salary was $5.75 million, the last year of a six-year contract he signed with Arizona in 2018. His previous contract had an average annual value of $4.45 million.

The Flyers were looking to reinforce their center position in free agency. The arrival of Dvorak, at 29 years old, will bring experience and serve as a backup for younger players on the team, such as the recently acquired Trevor Zegras.

Dvorak has a previous link with the new Philadelphia coach, Rick Tocchet, as they played together in Arizona.
