Blues Secure Felix Trudeau: Promising Future in St. Louis
The St. Louis Blues have secured their ranks with the signing of college free agent forward Felix Trudeau, who joins the team on a two-year entry-level contract. This strategic move bolsters the team’s prospect pool with one of the most prominent undrafted players.
Trudeau, 23, is expected to join the Springfield Thunderbirds, an American Hockey League team, for the remainder of the current season under a professional tryout agreement.
Trudeau arrives after an outstanding season at Sacred Heart University, where he stood out as the second-best scorer in the country with 25 goals. In addition, he tied for sixth place nationally in Division I with 48 points in 39 NCAA games, achievements that earned him recognition as Atlantic Hockey America Player of the Year.
In an organizational transition, with General Manager Doug Armstrong about to step down and hand over the position to Alexander Steen this summer, the Blues appear to be heading towards a project focused on young talent.
The team made a significant trade by sending their captain, Brayden Schenn, to the New York Islanders. In addition, they had an agreement to transfer Colton Parayko to Buffalo, but the veteran defenseman chose to block the move using his no-trade clause.
