T.J. Watt: Rumors of a possible trade on the horizon?

In recent weeks, several teams have been evaluating the possibility of acquiring the prominent pass rusher from the Pittsburgh Steelers, T.J. Watt. Sources close to the situation suggest that the player is not entirely satisfied with his current contractual situation. Watt, who was absent from the team’s most recent minicamp, could see increased interest from other teams, especially after the recent trade involving Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith. The Steelers, for their part, have not shown any intention of negotiating a trade for Watt. However, the player’s contractual situation and the interest of other teams could change the landscape. The Steelers player is in the final year of his current contract and also missed voluntary offseason activities while trying to negotiate a new deal. Watt signed a four-year, $112 million contract in 2021, averaging $28 million annually. In April, Watt seemed to express his frustration with the negotiations by posting an image on his Instagram story where he was seen making the peace sign with his Steelers jersey.

Watt, who will turn 31 in October, has accumulated 108 sacks in his career, surpassing Myles Garrett by 5.5. In addition, he has been selected All-Pro four times and was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. He has played his entire eight-year career with the Steelers.
