Von Miller Bolsters the Commanders’ Defense
The experienced edge rusher Von Miller joins the ranks of the Washington Commanders with a contract that promises to strengthen their defensive line. The incorporation of Miller represents a strategic move to improve the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
The one-year agreement with Miller secures him a base salary of $6.1 million, with the possibility of increasing his earnings through incentives, reaching up to $10.5 million.
Miller, who agreed to join the Commanders on Wednesday, will report to the team’s facilities on Monday to undergo a physical examination and sign the contract. Miller’s arrival is seen as a significant boost for the team’s defense.
Miller, at 36 years old, is expected to specialize in pressuring the quarterback, bringing his vast experience and skill to the game. Throughout his career, Miller has accumulated 129.5 sacks, including six last season with the Buffalo Bills.
Last season, the Commanders ranked 11th in the NFL in sacks, with a total of 43. However, they only managed five sacks in the final quarter of games, an area where they will look to improve with the addition of Miller.
The team has invested in reinforcing its defensive line during the offseason, adding Javon Kinlaw, Eddie Goldman, Deatrich Wise Jr., and Jacob Martin. The goal is to improve run defense, where the team struggled last season, and strengthen the ability to pressure the quarterback.
