Vikings Bolster Quarterback Position: Carson Wentz Joins the Team

The Minnesota Vikings have made significant moves in their roster, specifically at the quarterback position. The team has reached a contractual agreement with the experienced quarterback Carson Wentz and, simultaneously, has finalized the transfer of Sam Howell to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Wentz, at 32 years old, arrives at the Vikings after his time with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024, where he played the role of backup to Patrick Mahomes. During his time in Kansas City, Wentz participated in two games as a reserve and started in the last game of the regular season against the Denver Broncos, after the Chiefs secured the first place in the AFC standings for the playoffs.

The Vikings had acquired Howell in April, through a trade with the Seattle Seahawks. This transfer to the Eagles represents the third team change for Howell since he was selected in the 2022 draft by the Washington Commanders.

Before joining the Chiefs, Wentz accumulated eight seasons in the NFL, defending the colors of the Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, Washington Commanders, and Los Angeles Rams. He was selected by the Eagles in the 2016 draft as the second overall pick and was the starting quarterback for five seasons in Philadelphia, before Jalen Hurts took over the position.

After his time with the Eagles, Wentz played one season on each of the following teams: Colts, Commanders and Rams, before joining the Chiefs.

In his nine seasons in the NFL, Wentz has thrown for 22,410 yards, with 153 touchdown passes and 67 interceptions.
