Emotional Victory: Steelers Conquer Dublin in a Historic Match

On the eve of the NFL’s first regular season game in Dublin, Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin gave a moving speech to his team. He spoke about the importance of Dan M. Rooney, former U.S. Ambassador to Ireland and an influential figure in Steelers history. Less than 24 hours later, Tomlin and the Steelers achieved an emotional victory against the Vikings, in the ancestral homeland of the Rooney family. The final score was 24-21, in front of thousands of fans carrying the iconic “Terrible Towels”.

“We definitely had extra motivation,” linebacker T.J. Watt said. “Mike T. gave a speech last night about the importance of the Rooney family here in Ireland and Mr. Rooney, their ambassador here and how important this game is to their family.”
