Rondale Moore Suffers Knee Injury and Misses the Season
Vikings receiver and punt returner Rondale Moore suffered a season-ending injury to his left knee. The confirmation came on Tuesday after reviewing the results of his MRI. This news means Moore will miss a full season for the second consecutive year. The Vikings placed him on injured reserve on Tuesday. Moore has struggled to stay healthy since the Cardinals selected him in the second round of the 2021 draft. He missed nine games in 2022 due to various ailments and then the entire 2024 season after suffering a dislocated right knee in training camp with the Falcons. He signed a one-year contract with the Vikings this offseason and was on track to be the team’s kick returner and potential No. 4 receiver. On his first return, Texans linebacker Jamal Hill tackled him as he was coming off the field after a 2-yard gain. In the process, Hill pulled Moore awkwardly over his left leg. The trainers quickly brought out a cart. Moore’s frustration was evident. He slammed his hands so hard on the back of the cart that the sound could be heard throughout the stadium. In other moves on Tuesday, the Vikings waived linebacker Brian Asamoah II and offensive lineman Zeke Correll (waived/injured). Correll will revert to injured reserve if not claimed. Asamoah, a third-round pick by the Vikings in 2022, has played in 46 games over three seasons, recording 30 tackles. It’s one of the most painful things for me as a head coach when I feel that emotion. I make a life trying to leave others better than I found them. In that situation, there’s nothing I can do, which is the worst feeling as a coach. So you just check in with him and make sure he knows he won’t be alone.
