OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Concerns about injuries on the Baltimore Ravens continue to rise. Star quarterback Lamar Jackson did not participate in his second consecutive practice.
In addition to Jackson, Pro Bowl safety Kyle Hamilton also did not practice on Thursday due to a groin injury suffered the previous day. Jackson and Hamilton are the two highest-paid players on the Ravens, according to average annual salary.
Jackson retired from last Sunday’s game against Kansas City due to a hamstring injury. The Ravens, with a 1-3 record, have not yet ruled out his participation for the next game. If Jackson is unable to play on Sunday, Cooper Rush, former backup quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, could be the starter.
Hamilton, for his part, hasn’t missed a game since 2023 and is considered Baltimore’s most versatile defender. Currently, he ranks second on the team in tackles (31) and pass breakups (two).
Both Jackson and Hamilton join a list of nine Pro Bowl players from last year who are dealing with injuries. In addition to them, three other Pro Bowl players did not practice on Thursday: linebacker Roquan Smith (hamstring), cornerback Marlon Humphrey (calf), and fullback Patrick Ricard (calf).
Also, there are three other Pro Bowl players who are limited in practice due to injuries: offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle), center Tyler Linderbaum (calf), and outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy (hamstring). On Monday, Baltimore ruled out Pro Bowl defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike for the rest of the season due to a neck injury.
The tight end Mark Andrews spoke about the team’s mentality on Wednesday, saying: “Everyone in this organization is a fighter. We’ve been through adversity. We know what that’s like, and there is no surrender in this group, and we are excited to show that to the world.”
The Ravens, looking to avoid their second season start with a 1-4 record in franchise history, will host the Houston Texans (1-3) on Sunday.
