Jayden Reed Suffers Broken Collarbone: A Blow for the Packers

Green Bay Packers receiver Jayden Reed suffered a fractured collarbone during the game against the Washington Commanders, in a move that was nullified by a penalty. The incident occurred on the first possession of Thursday’s game, which ended with a 27-18 victory for the Packers at Lambeau Field.

“He’s going to miss a lot of time,” said coach Matt LaFleur. “We’ll see how quickly he can recover and heal, and I certainly hope he’ll be back at some point this season, but obviously it’s a big blow for us. He’s a guy who’s a catalyst for our offense and our football team, frankly, the energy he brings and he’s a dog.”

Reed’s injury occurred while attempting to catch a pass that would have resulted in a 39-yard touchdown, but the play was invalidated due to a holding penalty by right tackle Anthony Belton. Belton, a second-round pick, was playing his first start due to the absence of Zach Tom, who injured his hip in the Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions. Reed, who missed a large part of training camp due to a foot injury, led the Packers in the season opener with three receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown, despite playing only 18 plays.
