Omar Brown, Packers Player, Under Observation After Chest Injury

Green Bay Packers safety Omar Brown will remain in Indianapolis overnight for medical observation after suffering a chest injury during Saturday’s preseason game against the Colts, according to coach Matt LaFleur.

LaFleur indicated that Brown suffered a chest contusion.

Brown, a safety in his first year who has performed well in training camp, left the field using an oxygen mask and holding his midsection. He was transported in a cart, sitting.

“It’s a little concerning,” LaFleur stated after the Packers’ 23-19 victory.

Brown participated in 19 defensive plays and 10 special teams plays before leaving the game. After spending most of last season on the practice squad, Brown is in the fight to make the 53-man roster. He has had outstanding performances in training camp, including three interceptions in the Packers’ annual Family Night practice at Lambeau Field.

The Packers suffered two more potential injuries. Rookie defensive lineman Barryn Sorrell left the game with a knee injury in the first half, and running back MarShawn Lloyd did not return after a 33-yard reception on the sideline in the second quarter. Lloyd took a while to get up, but was seen on the sideline in uniform for the rest of the game.

When asked if Lloyd was okay, LaFleur responded: “We’ll see.”

The Packers expect Lloyd to play behind starting running back Josh Jacobs. The third-round pick in 2024 only played in one game last season due to various injuries and illnesses, and has missed time this summer due to a groin injury suffered early in training camp. He made his preseason debut on Saturday after returning to full practice last week.
