JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence shares the excitement of the fans to see Travis Hunter in action. The possible appearance of Hunter in Saturday night’s game against Pittsburgh, depending on the decision of head coach Liam Coen to field the starters, generates great expectation.
In last Friday’s scrimmage, Hunter demonstrated his versatility by participating in 38 plays, split between the first offensive and defensive units. He achieved three receptions for 43 yards, including a crucial 21-yard reception that brought the team into the red zone. On Tuesday, Hunter trained on both sides of the ball for the first time in a regular camp practice. During practice, Hunter wore a turquoise jersey for offense and a white tank top with the number 12 for defense. In the 11-on-11 work, Hunter participated in nine plays as a receiver and nine as a cornerback. In the second series, he played four consecutive plays, the first two on defense, finishing with two receptions. Hunter did not participate in the team’s final period, where they focused on offense and defense for four minutes. Coen commented that Hunter is still learning his role in formations with two tight ends.I’m very excited. If Friday was any indication, we should all be excited to see him run around out there, wherever that may be, on offense, on defense, hopefully more on offense, adding that for us.

Coen indicated that Hunter is likely not to play on both sides of the ball in every practice, but that “it would probably be a bit more normal than not”.It’s just another additional learning curve that we need to keep working on, but I think he’ll say he was a little more tired than he usually is. But I think he still showed up, made some plays in the middle as he’s continued to do.
