Calijah Kancey, Buccaneers Star, Suffers Injury That Sidelines Him for the Season
Tampa, Florida – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have received devastating news. Starting defensive tackle Calijah Kancey suffered a pectoral muscle tear during Monday night’s victory against the Houston Texans, according to sources close to the team.
After undergoing MRI tests on Tuesday, the diagnosis was confirmed. Kancey will undergo surgery on Friday to repair the injury and will be out for the rest of the season.
The injury occurred in the second quarter of the game, when Kancey was facing Texans offensive tackle Tytus Howard. The Buccaneers player was unable to return to the game.
Kancey, selected in the first round of the 2023 draft, has been a key piece on the Bucs’ defense. Last season, despite missing some games due to a calf injury, he led the team with 7.5 sacks.
