Justin Fields Returns to Jets Training After Toe Injury
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields reappeared in team drills on Monday, four days after suffering a dislocated right toe. Fields participated in the 7-on-7 drills at the training camp on Saturday, as the team gradually reintegrated him into activity. Coach Aaron Glenn had commented that Fields had “a long way to go” before his full return. However, after a day of rest on Sunday, Fields led the offense during the 11-on-11 exercises, on the first summer day that the Jets used pads.Glenn didn’t specify what he meant by “limited” and was asked if perhaps the team didn’t want him to run as much as he normally would. Fields sparked concern among Jets fans and on social media last Thursday when he dislocated a toe at the start of practice. He was taken by cart from the field to the facilities, where he underwent multiple tests before the team announced the diagnosis, alleviating fears that the injury could be even more serious. After being completely absent on Friday, Fields threw passes in 7-on-7 drills on Saturday and showed no signs of his injured foot affecting him.He was limited, but limited in the way we want him to be. He made some good throws. And, again, when Justin is on the field, we’re going to let him be who he is.
