Falcons WR Darnell Mooney Inactive for Week 1
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney will not participate in the Week 1 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team announced on Sunday.
Mooney suffered a right shoulder injury on July 24 during the first training camp practice. He dove to catch a pass from Michael Penix Jr. and fell hard. Mooney got up with difficulty and left the field with a trainer.
At that time, head coach Raheem Morris indicated that Mooney would be out for “a couple of weeks.” Mooney returned to practice just over a week ago and was listed as limited this week.
Last season, Mooney injured the same shoulder and did not play in the Week 18 game against the Carolina Panthers.
Mooney, 27, had 64 receptions for 992 yards and a career-high five touchdowns last year.
