Cameron Heyward Seeks to Improve His Contract with the Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ standout defensive tackle, Cameron Heyward, who has been named All-Pro four times, is seeking a salary increase. Internal sources reveal that Heyward has not fully participated in summer practices while awaiting the restructuring of his contract.

Heyward has two years remaining on his current contract. For this season, his salary is $14.75 million, of which $13.45 million has already been earned as a roster bonus, which will be paid throughout the season. In 2026, he is scheduled to earn $14.5 million.

Currently, Heyward is projected as the thirty-sixth highest-paid defensive lineman in the NFL this season, and the eighteenth among defensive tackles.

Although Heyward and the Steelers have discussed this issue privately, no progress has been made on the contract renegotiation. As a result, the player has not fully participated in training camp.

At 36 years old, Heyward, who has been a long-time Steelers captain, was selected All-Pro for the fourth time in 2024. This makes him the first defensive lineman over 35 to be named All-Pro since Bruce Smith in 1998.
