Hackett Returns to Green Bay: New Role in the Packers’ Coaching Staff

Green Bay welcomes an old acquaintance to its coaching staff. Nathaniel Hackett, who was the Packers’ offensive coordinator between 2019 and 2021, has been rehired as a consultant/analyst.

Hackett, after his time as head coach of the Denver Broncos and offensive coordinator of the New York Jets, returns to the team to contribute his experience.

“He’s a guy I really respect, and we’ve had a lot of good times together. He comes in and is doing an analyst role for our defense.”

According to coach Matt LaFleur, Hackett will work with the defense, but will bring an offensive perspective to the team. LaFleur mentioned that Hackett has already been collaborating with the linebackers.

The incorporation of Hackett seeks to offer a new vision of the game.

Last season, after Saleh’s departure, Hackett was demoted by interim coach Jeff Ulbrich, as the New York team fell to 27th in total offense and 25th in scoring. Todd Downing took over as the play-caller at that time. The Broncos fired Hackett after 15 games and a 4-11 record in 2022.
