Dre Greenlaw Loses Appeal and Misses Next Game
Denver Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw has had his one-game suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct towards an official upheld, the league announced Tuesday.
Greenlaw will miss the home game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Upon announcing Greenlaw’s suspension on Monday, the NFL stated that he “pursued referee Brad Allen and verbally threatened him while he was attempting to leave the field” following the Broncos’ victory against the New York Giants at Mile High Stadium.
A video posted by a CBS Colorado reporter showed Greenlaw’s encounter with Allen. The suspension will cost Greenlaw, who will also have to miss the Broncos’ training sessions this week, a game check for the amount of $192,778.
Sunday marked Greenlaw’s first game with Denver after signing a three-year, $31.5 million contract in March. He didn’t play in the preseason or the first six regular season games due to hamstring injuries.
Against the Giants, Greenlaw played 21 plays and finished with six tackles and one quarterback hit, as the Broncos rallied from a 19-0 deficit in the fourth quarter to win 33-32 and improve to 5-2.
