EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers has been out of practice for 11 days due to a back issue, according to sources. Although the situation seems minor, the team has opted for caution. Nabers did not participate in the 31-12 victory against the New York Jets and has missed the first two preseason games. The team only has one full practice this week before their final preseason game against the New England Patriots. Given the tight schedule, Nabers may not return this week. Nabers is likely to miss the entire preseason, but this could be beneficial, as the regular season begins in three weeks. This would give him enough time to prepare for the game against the Washington Commanders. The Giants appear to be handling the situation carefully, considering Nabers’ importance to their offense. The player also had a toe injury in the spring and left a practice this summer after falling on his shoulder. Coach Brian Daboll mentioned that Nabers is working hard to return, but did not offer details about the injuries. The situation is similar with left tackle Andrew Thomas, who is recovering from Lisfranc surgery. General manager Joe Schoen hoped Thomas would be ready for Week 1. Nabers has also maintained a reserved attitude about his situation, stating that he follows the coaches’ instructions and that everything is part of the plan. Nabers was on the sideline during the joint practice with the Jets, but did not participate. He appeared to be fine during warmups and was present at the game. The Giants’ offense will need a healthy Nabers this season. He is their number 1 receiver, after catching 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns last year. Nabers has shown great performance this summer, proving to be practically unstoppable. Cornerback Paulson Adebo praised his speed, ball skills, and body control.
The Giants’ offense struggled at times during joint practices against the Jets without Nabers. However, they showed improvement in the preseason game, with rookie Beaux Collins taking his place. Quarterback Russell Wilson and the Giants know they need a healthy Nabers to reach their full potential this season. He’s their most dynamic player.Malik has elite speed, his ball skills, his ability to track the ball, some of the things he does when the ball is in the air, late hands. He really is a complete elite receiver.

Nabers and Thomas are expected to return soon. The good thing is that we don’t even have Malik Nabers there yet. He’s had a great camp, so when he comes back, it’s going to be really exciting for us.
