Colts Lose Charvarius Ward to Concussion and Enters Reserve List

The Indianapolis Colts have placed their standout cornerback, Charvarius Ward, on the injured reserve list, which will keep him out of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers and, at a minimum, the next three games.

Ward suffered his second concussion of the season after a hard hit with tight end Drew Ogletree during warmups before the Week 6 game against the Arizona Cardinals. Ward was on the ground for a considerable amount of time before regaining consciousness and being helped off the field.

Ward’s demotion on the injured list further exacerbates the difficulties of a secondary that has been plagued by injuries since the preseason. The Colts lost rookie defensive backs Justin Walley and Hunter Wohler to season-ending injuries in the preseason, and are still awaiting the return of 2024 starter Jaylon Jones, who has been on the reserve list with a hamstring injury since Week 1.

Slot cornerback Kenny Moore II is expected to return from a hamstring strain on Sunday, although it’s unclear how much he’ll play after missing three weeks.
