Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season continues on Friday from Brazil, following an exciting opening game between the Eagles and the Cowboys.
This season opener features another divisional matchup, with the Kansas City Chiefs facing the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo.
Clear Goals for the Chiefs
For the Chiefs, the goals are clear: to return to the Super Bowl and avenge last season’s defeat. The Chargers, for their part, are looking to consolidate a solid first season under head coach Jim Harbaugh, who guided the team to an 11-6 record in 2024, before falling in the wild card round.
The Chargers will have to overcome recent history to start the season with a win. According to data, the Chiefs’ win percentage against Los Angeles since 2014 is 0.864, tied with the Packers (against the Bears) and the Patriots (against the Jets) for the best win percentage by a team against a divisional opponent in that period. Kansas City has also won six consecutive games in September, the longest active streak in the NFL.
