James Conner Secures His Future with the Cardinals

Running back James Conner and the Arizona Cardinals have restructured the final year of his contract, ensuring his stay with the team for the 2026 season. NFL Network reported this on Sunday.

Conner, who originally had a salary of $6.39 million for 2026, with a cap hit of $9.83 million, saw his contract revised to avoid being released for financial reasons.

The player, who will turn 31 on May 5, participated in only three games last season due to an ankle injury suffered in Week 3 against San Francisco.

Conner finished the season with 95 rushing yards, after having surpassed 1,000 yards on the ground in each of the previous two seasons, thus achieving the first 1,000-yard seasons of his career.

The running back, who is about to start his sixth season with Arizona, signed a two-year extension with the Cardinals at the end of 2024.

In his nine-year NFL career, Conner has accumulated 6,065 rushing yards and 289 receptions for 2,255 yards. In addition, he has achieved a total of 72 touchdowns (60 rushing).
