Myles Garrett, Browns Player, Cited for Speeding
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was cited for speeding on an interstate in a Cleveland suburb, according to court documents. The incident occurred early Saturday morning.
Garrett was arrested after being detected driving at 100 mph in an area where the speed limit is 60 mph.
A team spokesperson reported that the Browns are aware of the situation.
The player was stopped at 2:01 a.m. in Strongsville, Ohio. He was fined $250 and his appearance in court on Thursday morning is not necessary if he pays the fine.
The Browns played their first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte on Friday night; Garrett was one of several veterans who did not participate in the game.
Garrett was present at Monday morning’s practice. The Browns have joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This incident occurs three years after Garrett was cited for “failing to control his vehicle” following a single-car accident that caused him a sprain in his left shoulder and a strain in his right bicep.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Garrett was driving at a “speed unsafe for the type of road” he was on, which contributed to the accident. Garrett was driving 65 mph on a road with a speed limit of 45 mph, according to the accident report.
In 2022, at least seven instances of Garrett speeding were reported in Northeast Ohio.
