Exchange Details

Newsome, 25, was selected by the Browns in the first round of the 2021 draft. He is currently playing on a fifth-year option that gives him $13.38 million and will become a free agent after the season. After his rookie season as an outside cornerback, Newsome moved to play the nickel position. In the current season, he has recorded 23 tackles and five passes defended in five games.
Campbell, also 25 years old, was selected by the Jaguars in 2021. He signed a four-year, $76.5 million contract extension before the start of the 2024 training camp. In the current season, he has had six passes defended, a forced fumble, and 34 tackles in five games. The 2022 season was Campbell’s best, with three interceptions, a forced fumble and two recoveries, as well as 15 passes defended. This is the second exchange between the Jaguars and the Browns in six months. Cleveland has also been active this week, acquiring left tackle Cam Robinson from the Houston Texans and sending quarterback Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals.
