Broncos: Dre Greenlaw to IR due to hamstring injury, key defensive player out

Denver Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been placed on the injured reserve list due to a hamstring injury. The team made the official announcement this Saturday.

Greenlaw, who has been unable to play in any of the games this season, will be out for at least four more games.

One of the most important additions for the Broncos in free agency, Greenlaw did not participate in the offseason program due to a hamstring injury suffered during training. Although he was not initially expected to miss any regular season games, he suffered a new injury to the same hamstring during training camp, described as a “different” injury by head coach Sean Payton.

Greenlaw didn’t play in the preseason and still hasn’t debuted so far this season.

The three-year, $31.5 million contract that Greenlaw signed in March was the second-largest deal the Broncos gave to a free agent from another team this year.
