Tom Brady Watches Raiders in Action from the Coaches’ Booth

Las Vegas – Tom Brady, minority shareholder of the Raiders, was seen for the first time in the team’s coaching box during the first quarter of the 20-9 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night. Brady, who appeared on the televised broadcast wearing a headset, has been a valuable resource for the team since he was approved as a minority shareholder last year. Coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek, who was in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ office when the seven-time Super Bowl champion was their starting quarterback, have consulted Brady on roster decisions during the offseason. Spytek commented that Brady’s voice has been “invaluable”. The Raiders’ first-year offensive coordinator, Chip Kelly, also mentioned that he speaks with the future Hall of Famer two to three times a week, reviewing films and the game plan for the week.

We have conversations. I talk to Tom, Chip talks to Tom regularly. We have a tremendous asset. And we all get along and respect each other. We just talk about life and football. He has a great vision, so we’re lucky to have him as an owner.

Brady is also an NFL commentator for Fox. Recently, the NFL relaxed some of its restrictions for him in that role, allowing him to participate in production meetings, when a broadcast team meets with the head coaches and key players of that game, this season. He must participate in those meetings remotely and is not allowed to attend practices at the team’s facilities. After his 23-year playing career, Brady made his debut on Fox last season with a 10-year, $375 million contract that he originally agreed to in 2022. But limitations were imposed on Brady due to his agreement to become a partial owner of the Raiders, a deal that was approved by the league’s owners in October. Brady is scheduled to commentate on the Week 3 game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Bears. The Raiders play against the Bears the following week.
