Logan Wilson requests a team change after a reduction in role with the Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson has requested a trade, according to sources close to the team. Wilson, who is in his sixth season, has been a starter in the seven games he has played this season. However, his participation in the team has decreased. Rookies Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight Jr. have received the most minutes on the team’s defense. In Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers, Wilson played only 19.7% of the defensive snaps in a 27-18 loss. Four days later, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he was on the field 47.5% of the time in a 33-31 victory that broke a four-game losing streak. Wilson has two years remaining on his four-year, $36 million extension he signed in 2023. This season, the Bengals rank 25th in yards allowed per rushing attempt. Bengals coach Zac Taylor reiterated his commitment to rookies in the middle of the defense. Wilson, selected in the third round of the 2020 draft, has been a fundamental member of Cincinnati’s defense. In 2021, two years after the Bengals had the worst record in the NFL, Wilson started for a Cincinnati team that reached the Super Bowl. In six seasons with the team, he has started 75 games and has accumulated six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and 11 interceptions. Our relationship hasn’t changed at all. I still depend on him a lot for many things, I still ask him questions every day. He has been a great leader, just as he has been since the day I arrived here.
