SAN FRANCISCO – The Golden State Warriors have released guard Seth Curry, anticipating his return to the team in the coming months. This decision was motivated by the team’s financial limitations in the new salary landscape. The Warriors are under financial restrictions, which prevent them from maintaining an additional veteran contract until early November. The fifteenth and final roster spot will remain vacant until the guard’s expected return. Seth Curry, younger brother of Stephen Curry, has been training at the team’s facilities and participated in the only road trip in October, but has not played in the preseason games. Curry began his 11-year career in the G League with the Santa Cruz franchise, but then chose to explore other options, playing for 10 NBA teams. His goal was to forge his own professional path, away from his brother’s shadow.
He has demonstrated great shooting ability. In his career, he has made 945 three-pointers with a 43.3% effectiveness, the seventh-highest percentage in league history. This summer, Seth considered it was the right time to join Steph, who has always wanted to play with his brother in the NBA. Although it will be delayed, the plan is still in place, even after this decision. The youngest Curry has achieved an impressive shooting percentage.
