Nikola Topic to Undergo Medical Procedure; Out for the Start of the Season

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Nikola Topic underwent a medical procedure on Monday and will be reevaluated in approximately four to six weeks, the team announced.

The NBA regular season for the Thunder will begin on October 21 against the Houston Rockets.

Topic, 20 years old, was looking to make his NBA debut with the team, after missing his entire rookie season due to a torn ACL. The 6’6″ point guard from Serbia was OKC’s number 12 pick in the 2024 draft.

Topic played 31 minutes and recorded 10 points and seven assists in the Thunder’s first preseason game against the Hornets on Sunday.

Oklahoma City will also have to do without another young prospect, rookie center Thomas Sorber, who will miss the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
