Spurs’ Stephon Castle to miss several weeks due to injury

San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle will be re-evaluated in one to two weeks after an MRI revealed a strain in his left hip flexor. Castle, who is shaping up to be the NBA 2024-25 Rookie of the Year, suffered the injury in the first half of the game against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. He was unable to play the second half of that game. The player commented in the locker room that he felt some pain, but could not specify when the injury occurred.

When it comes to muscles and soft tissues, which I don’t understand at all, you have to work and see how the body responds, and then work a little more and see how the body responds.

Mitch Johnson, San Antonio coach
Castle, 21, has been one of the league’s breakout players this season, averaging 17.3 points, 7.5 assists, and 5.8 rebounds. In other injury news, the Spurs announced that veteran point guard Jordan McLaughlin underwent an MRI on Monday, which revealed a strain in his right hamstring. McLaughlin suffered the injury during a court workout on Monday at the Victory Capital Performance Center.
