Wizards Trade Kelly Olynyk to the Spurs

The Washington Wizards have finalized a deal to trade Kelly Olynyk to the San Antonio Spurs. In return, the Wizards will receive Malaki Branham, Blake Wesley, and a second-round draft pick in 2026. The second-round pick will be the least favorable among those of Dallas, Philadelphia, and Oklahoma City in 2026. This move provides the Spurs with another player of size following the recent addition of Luke Kornet. The team is looking to strengthen its roster behind its star, Victor Wembanyama. Olynyk had a standout season, with 42% effectiveness in three-point shots. The Wizards previously acquired him from the New Orleans Pelicans in a trade that involved CJ McCollum and Jordan Poole. Branham and Wesley, both 22 years old, provide the Wizards, in full reconstruction, two more young talents to develop. In addition, the team secures a second-round pick in the next draft.
